Scheduling Backups

Hi, The product doc says to use the DNN Scheduler, which I have done. But it seems to not have a function to set the initial start date/time for an event. I'd like to have the backups happen out of hours, but don't really want to get up at 2am to set one off.

Any advice about how to achieve what I want?

Kind regards, JP

Re: Scheduling Backups

Jeff,

Sorry to say DNN scheduler does not provide such option, although it would be nice to have one. Try to submit this enhancement request to DNN Core team –they may add this feature in the next release.

Re: Scheduling Backups

Many thanks for your reply.

Another thing re scheduling. I'm seeing instances where the backup is run any where between twice and four times straight after each other. This is a pain becuase it deletes the previous days' backups - even with the max of 5 "to keep" set, I still endup sometimes with only two days backups.

I had a look at the logs (viewer and scheduler) and discovered in at least one instance that another job (purge schedule history) coincidently started almost at the same time (with the backup at 11:56:57am and the other at 11:56:56am). I haven't had a chance to check the others.

In the log viewer there are four exceptions all at 11:56:57am - indicating the backup has the problem. The logs are:

1. Add failed. Duplicate key value supplied.
2. Add failed. Duplicate key value supplied.
3. Add failed. Duplicate key value supplied.
4. SqlDateTime overflow. Must be between 1/1/1753 12:00:00 AM and 12/31/9999 11:59:59 PM.

Now, unfortunately I've found that if you schedule something it doesn't always start at the time you expect. So items seem to slip all the time I've noticed - not sure why - might be delays from the app having to restart or who knows.

Any ideas?

Re: Scheduling Backups

We need to look into backup failure problem first, because if backup fails, the DNN scheduler will perform another attempt to backup and so on and so forth. Please send us more detailed messages (stack traces) of the error you're getting. Although, not sure backup causing the issue, since does not write anything to database, according to your log.

Re: Scheduling Backups
Would it be best if I emailed this data to someone, as it may be a bit bulky to put it in this forum.
