Configuration Error

I have done the following:

  1. Unziped the module properly
  2. Uploaded the module via the Host/Module Definitions area (job completed successfully)
  3. Uploaded the license file to the /BIN directory
  4. confirmed creation of and RW access to /BackupRestore folder
  5. Created a page while logged in as host and added the module to it

When I try to run a backup i get:

A critical error has occurred.
Backup/Restore process failed! Invalid or missing license file. Possible causes are: 1) Please makse sure you have purchased and placed license (LIC) file into /BIN folder of your portal. 2) You did not modify the LIC file. 3) Domain name is different than one(s) specified in the license file.

When I try to access the page via the menu I get:

Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately.

I've re-installed the module, re-uploaded the license file, and re-created the page and get the same results.

Can you let me know what I am doing wrong?

Re: Configuration Error

This site is hosted via godaddy but I did the DNN install manually, setting permissions to directories to allow me to run the full DNN software, not the GoDaddy version.

I had the same question.  I installed DNN in the PORTAL directory in September of 2006.  All the modifications to the web.comfig file I have done have been in the PORTAL directory, wccih is the application root directory..

I had belived the BACKUP directory was part of the module installation.  Since it does not appear that is the case I have removed the directory, re-installed the product, and re-created a page.

Everything looks like it is working now.

Thanks for putting me on the right path for a solution.
