Error on restore of db

Hi, After the Please Wait ! for a moment, I get the following error:

ERROR: Restore operation has failed: File 'e:\inetpub\vs166230\dnntest\BackupRestore\DatabaseBackup.xml' does not exist!

The above path is correct for the site. The db is on another server, which is correctly specificed in the web.config. The site (and db) is in a shared hsoting environment.

After restoring the file system, and using the URL suggested in the module for resotre of db, i.e. http://www.valintus.com/dnntest/DesktopModules/RemotePortalBackupRestore/RestoreDatabase.aspx, I got the following just the once:

Upgrading DotNetNuke

Current Assembly Version: 04.04.01

Current Database Version: 04.08.00

Upgrade Status Report

00:00:00.187 - Performing General Upgrades

Upgrade Complete

FYI, I'm restoring my 4.4.1 site after an upgrade to 4.8.0 didn't work.

Strangely, the DatabaseBackup.xml file was in the directory, but after the error it isn't. When I put it back and retry the db restore url, it again disappears!

When I access my site, it is clear that it is accessing the upgraded db (I can see the [EDIT] tags added to the Announcement module on the home page) and not a restored version

HELP!

Re: Error on restore of db

Jeff,

Per documentation:

1) Download  your backup ZIP  to a local drive.

2) Completely wipe out your WEB site and delete the database

3) Download DNN version 4.4.1 and install it as a brand new installation.

From there on - follow the restore procedure described in the user's manual.

DatabaseBackup.xml disappears because the database schema gets fully restored, and that file gets automatically deleted. Although, since you have DNN 4.8 running, the runtime immediately treats DB schema restoration as an upgrade (thank to DNN core team), therefore, your site gets automatically upgraded to 4.8 again. So, it is important to install the same CLEAN version of 4.4.1 DNN first
